Hmmm.
Black contains all the colors... truly the rainbow color.
Black absorbs the human 'visible' spectrum of energies.
White would be the perfect reflector of those same energies.
Which is why white vehicles are cooler although black is a cooler color! Both hard to keep clean though.
Of course neither blalk or white ARE colors...
You humans are still trying to decide if light is a wave or ray with particles or just energy or both... so in THAT 'light' the above makes sense... presence of ALL colors but is not even a color.
Come to thiink of it aren't you still arguing on how to spell colour?
No wonder you kill each other based on color or colour... it is the spelling yes?

White has every colour of light, black is the absence of light. Shadows tend to be black, because you're blocking light; you can see whatever colour you want to in a room with a plain white light globe, as opposed to a coloured globe. When an object is coloured, that means it's reflecting the colour that you see, but absorbing every other colour possible, hence you need a white light to see every colour, as it's already shining every possible colour to start off with.

Black is the absence of light
White is the presence of light
Think of it this way.. Take a prism and shine a regular flashlight through it. What do you see? a rainbow with all the colors of light. (that we can see anyway)

what you see is the interaction of light with the retina in your eyes and their associated nerve pathways into your brain,
To see an object you need three things:
1. A source of light
2 somthing to relfect the light off of and absorb some of the light ; hence color
3. An eye to see it
Therefore no light no sight. Your brain calls that black.
Shut your eyes and ignore your dreams. What color do you see?

Not really. The things that we say 'emit light' don't actually 'emit' anything at all. That's just a convenient fiction that lets all of our mathematics work nicely.
What actually happens is that lights (and 'light sources' in general) actually suck up darkness âº
