there are a few ways to do this. one is go to a mechanic to have your vehcile checked out. or check the fuse box, there may be a reset buton there as well.....

If it's the check engine light, see a mechanic now. If it's the service engine soon light, try this. Turn key on but don't start the car. Push down and release the accelerator 3 times. You'll hear a chime. Turn key off. Turn key back on and it should be fine.
If it's neither of these lights, disregard this message.

The only way to turn off the check engine light on a GM OBD II vehicle is by using a scan tool or when then problem is fixed and passes the diagnostic tests run by the vehicles PCM.

It could just be the fuel cap not closed tightly. Unscrew it and then screw it back on and make sure you hear several clicks.

take it to auto zone or advance auto and they will check it for free and reset it.
