I dont think isolationism is even a possiblity if you think that chaos theory is correct. So yes we would be better off doing the impossible like say maybe everyone from US should take space ship to mars and live there. But we would still have en effect on everyone else... SO basicaly learn to live with others or learn to never do anything again. One is possible the other is maybe not?

I used to think so, but then I moved to the midwest. Compared to the east coast, the subculture here is isolationist, and there is more closed-mindedness than there is in Washington, DC. People hide their prejudices, racism, and other forms of hate behind their patriotism and religion, and an isolationist America would do just that. It's sad to see the working class white people that Ford laid off get so angry at black people or Mexicans because they lost their jobs... there's no connection--Ford isn't hiring illegal workers or people under minimum wage, it makes no sense. An isolationist America would probably commit genocide.

It's way too late to think about going down that road again - it's been tried and found seriously wanting.

And that was long before the integrated world economy that we have today was put in place.

Americans aren't going to want to substantially reduce their standard of living so we can say that we're self-sufficient and don't need the rest of the world.

absolutely not

it was tried at the beginning of the 20th century and that didn't turn out very well. However the whole 'Manifest Destiny' that the Americans see themselves as now can't work either. There needs to be a balance

Two Rules Political rulers should avoid entangling alliances with other nations and avoid all wars not related to direct territorial self-defense.

There should be legal barriers to prevent trade and cultural exchange with people in other states.

No. Because of ease of transportation and almost instant communication, we are a part of the world community. Isolation is for hermit or monks.
