i bought a engine from a 1975 xs 650 i took out the points and i put my bottem cover on with the electronic igntion but when i try to start it, it backfires out the carbs what would be wrong???

it does have spark

The timing on the electronic ignition isn't adjusted properly. Or you have the wires for the L & R cylinders reversed. If you're still having problems, put the points back in. If it runs, then somethings wrong with the new ignition - timing, crossed wires or it's a piece of junk. Stock is best - stick with the points.

Your could have tooth lacking from the flywheel.try rolling the motorcycle in kit some inches forward or decrease back,then see if it is going to work together. Ebay is a sturdy place to come across factors if mandatory

bad coils, i have a yamaha 700 and it did the same thing.
