The Boss (Bruce Springsteen) has a song on his "The Rising" album, called You're missing, which is covered by a female singer called Margot Timmins, from a band called the Cowboy Junkies.
Sorry, Brucie, Margot's version is far superior to your original, as she puts far more emotion into the singing of the song, and it just breaks my heart!
And on the same vein, I wouldn't be so bold as to say a classic Brucie number like Thunder Road is done BETTER by someone else, but I can tell you another female singer called Mary Lou Lord does a stonking version of the song.
She does it slowly, quietly, emphasising every nuance and every little phrase in the song, and brings out a whole new perspective on it.
Also , Creedance Clearwater Revival's version of the song made famous, but not written, I hasten to add, by the great Marvin Gaye, "Heard it through the grapevine" is also pretty good, you should check it out, it's pretty hot, with some great guitar riffs in it.
Oh there's one other that springs to mind- remember that song by some female singer from a few years ago- What if God was One of us, just a stranger on the bus, trying to make his way home, etc,?
Well, it's a bit too "Christian " for me to really like it, to be honest, as I am non-religious, but it has a nice tune, well, the far superior version of that song with his own twisted outlook on life, is Weird Al Yankovic's version of the song.
He has re-worked the words, and retitled it, What if God Smoked Cannabis, and I'm sure you can guess the rest!
It's not blasphemous or anything, it's just a good laugh and it is far better than the original!!
I'm sure at least some of the above are downloadable from one of those file-sharing sites
Enjoy!

Johnny Cash on the American series covered many songs. I value his cover's of Nick Cave's The Mercy Seat and Will Oldhams I See A Darkness as bringing a new view on great songs.

I prefer No Doubt's version of Its my life to Talking Head's original.
Hated Sheryl Crow's version of Sweet Child by GNR - that was just wrong.

Ray Lamontagne really sorted out Gnarles Barkley's Crazy and Johnny Cash put far more emotion into U2's One than Bono ever could.
