I do think that they got away with murder, and the Goverment let them do it! No, I'm not from Northern Ireland and I have no political axe to grind!

The government bought the IRA off? So after 30 years of non-negotiation with terrorists they suddenly paid them loads of money? I don't think so. People just got so sick of constantly fighting that they decided that peaceful living was preferable to constant strife, whatever side they're from. Plus it's much easier to be a radical when things are hard (like in the 80's when all of Belfast's docks shut down, so there was huge unemployment), and much harder now that Ulster and Eire are becoming much more prosperous.

How long do you think it will be before the Loyalist paramilitaries, who have recently been shooting up NI, will give up their arms just as members of the IRA were tricked into doing 4 years ago?
I know you say that you have no political axe to grind, but please, know your facts before you start asking questions that could cause all out rioting (verbal of course). There are two sides to every story.
As for the "murdering of innocent civilians", the jury is still out on the Bloody Sunday incident (30 January 1972) where the RUC (Royal Ulster Constabulary) combined with the British Army killed 14 unarmed innocent civilians in NI.

they may not be bombing other countries but i bet they are still ruling there community like they always have..... dealing the drugs, dish out the rules to anyone who still crosses them and anyway most of there money used to come from the usa and maybe it still does who knows

They all converted to Islam ( No self-respecting terrorist can be anything but ! ) , and are very active in south Lebanon.
When Fashions change, they will convert again .
