Yes.They bring more fun and much better sometimes as compared to person or actual characters which are quite annoying sometimes .For a change, anime could give a break for a time being when the real characters get boring.

Yes, I like the good stuff. There is a lot of bad anime out there unfortunately, and that's the stuff a lot of Americans end up getting exposed to.
Anime (again, the good stuff) is great because the story lines are so much better than most of the crap you find in American/Western films & TV. The action/adventure is more epic, the romantic comedies are more romantic (and funny), the sci-fi is real hard-core sci-fi, etc. Also, the action sequences are pretty cool. Good anime seldom has shallow characters (unless that's actually a part of that character's personality). The large eyes, far from being just a drawing quirk, allow much more facial expression.
Anime is interesting in its portrayal of women. As one might expect from an Asian culture, women tend to be portrayed as squeaky, fragile, or emotionally unstable. Yet at the same time, you also find many more female heroines and leading female characters than you do in Western films & TV.
Some anime I would recommend:
Cowboy Bebop (TV series & movie)
Ghost in the Shell (both movies & both TV seasons)
Kimagure Orange Road
Record of Lodoss Wars (how Dungeons & Dragons was supposed to be :-)
Serial Experiments Lain
any film by Hayao Miyazake--Nausicaa, Spirited Away, & Princess Mononoke are particularly good
Video Girl Ai
Battle Angel Alita
Samurai Shamploo
I'm sure others could name some additional excellent animes, but these are a few good ones off the top of my head. A few of these have played or are playing on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim. Others can be found at good video stores. Many decent colleges also have anime clubs where you can go and veg out on anime; do a search on their web site if you're interested.

Yes I do but not all of them. Animes are likeable because they dwell on different issues or themes.
These are some I like the most ranked accordingly:
1. Fushigi Yuugi (where can I get the full episodes?)
2. Samurai X - has a bit of Japanese history
3. Magic Knight Rayearth
4. Yuyu Hakusho
5. Pokemon

I love it! I'm always into the "heroine" fantasy sagas like Inuyasha and Iria, and many others.
Provides great distractions from the real world and gives me something to think about on the creative level.
