Did they just check the freon and not anything else? I can tell you that those temps-your a/c won't get your house that cool. Tell you what you can do that might help. Check to see if your coil is dirty. If it is-then it the air won't put out as much as it could. Rather than pay for another tech-or pay what they charge for coil cleaner----take some regular Tylex cleaner-found at any walmart store and spray your coil. Let it set for a little while and the condensation will help it clean. Then take a soft bristle brush and GENTLY clean it. Take special care so as to not damage the coil.
I know this to be effective because I work for a heating and air company. I had the same exact same problem-meaning that my air was running all the time, but it just didn't keep my house cool. I talk to one of our techs and this is what he told me to do. It worked perfectly.
Or it may be in your ductwork. Have you had it checked out?

Sounds to me like u have a combined total of 4 problems 1 not enough insulation in the attic 2 no way u have enough attic vents to remove the hot air out of attic3Comp is working to hard and could be going bad 4 If system is more than tens years old needs replacement. The point i'm making is there's to many variables to give a proper answer. But u need an Experienced Tech and an Energy Audit to fix your problem

the problem you are facing is that the outside temperature is heating up the air in your attic and the hot air is now generating threw your ceiling, i know like most people do is hot air rises and cold air stays close to the floor, what you need to do is get rid of the hot air that is stuck in your attic. There are vents that you can put on your roof to help expel the heat, and what it is, is that you have soffit vents and say you have a ridge vent, air comes up threw the soffit and pushes the hot air up to the ridge vent, the problem with this is that it is not very good process to completely get rid of the hot air in a quick fashion. thing to think about, if the wind is not moving outside how is the air going to move quickly out, what you need to do is several things, 1. make sure you have the right amount of insulation in your attic. 2. Get a attic fan. there is different types on the market, so check to see which one you like the best and will have the best results. i hope it cools down on you soon.

Do you have enough vents in your house?
Is your filter clean?
Does your house get a lot of direct sun during the day?
You could have a coil inside your unit that is frozen, sometimes due to too much freon.

Unfortunately you haven't provided enough information to correctly answer this. How old is the unit? Was there an actual cooling gain done on the house to see how much AC you would need? If this was done and the correct figures put into the calculations, then you should have enough AC. Is there enough cold air return? Again, not enough info and way too many possibilities to consider.

Air conditioners are not designed for the temperatures your stating. They function when the outside is around 75-90. That is why your house is cooling in the morning. The outside temp has dropped down and your a/c can function more efficiently. This is a common problem. My house will never cool down to a temp below 76 until nightfall.

You could have enough freon but have a compressor failing, we don't know if it has always been like this or if this is a new situation, or how old the unit is. All of these variables are important to know how to answer your question. I'm leaning toward a failing compressor.

Have you cleaned or replaced the filter? An air conditionar won't work if the filter is dirty, or worn. if its dirty, it could catch fire!
