Yes; drink chicken soup/broth or hot tea. Take anti inflammatory like aspirin or ibuprofen with food; you can gargle with warm water and salt. All of these things will ease the sore throat. You need to up your fluids too. Lay off of the sodas and drink water to keep your mucous from getting thick and sticking to the back of your throat.

If your throat hurts, avoid taking any cold liquids and some solid foods (if the latter makes it worse). Drink hot soup, coffee or tea to soothe the pain. Also, gargle with warm, salt water when brushing your teeth to help kill the germs that are occupying the tonsils. Finally, take medications for your allergy, not pain medicines.

There is something you can try at home that is refered to as KB gargle--(Kaopectate and Benadryl 50-50mix that you can make--1 tbsp/1 tbsp. would definitely do it). A great non-medical relief--believe it or not--is to eat a hot pepperocini pepper. It works very well if you can hack it! lol.By the way--don't swallow the kb gargle.
