Persuming that u are referring to cooking salt. To separate the two i would first dissolve all the salt with water. Then filter the mixture to separate the iron from the salt solution. Make sure to wash the iron with water to make sure all traces of salt are removed. Then take the salt solution and heat it in an evaporating dish to remove the water leaving behind the salt.

add water, dissolve the salt, centrifuge, pour off liquid ( decant), wash with water again, centrifuge, decant again, dry iron... take water from decanting now boil away water salt remains.

I've heard that a static balloon will seperate salt and pepper...perhaps the same will work for you. You can get the balloon staticky by rubbing it in your hair.
