did it only get rave reviews because last two albums were good?

it got good reviews in magazines such as Q and newspapers but i wouldnt trust Q to write an accurate review, they just kiss the **** of any band that fits into the style of music that they think they're readers like. And no, i think its crap

for me as a hardcore rhcp's fans, i think this album....is kinda...going down hill.
comparing to their previous albums (sinced their 1984 funk rock debut album).....this one is no where near! Although i gave the cd 6/10, juz for a good effort bring funk back.
But seriously....., from what others reviews i 've read, they are kinda mix, a lot of postivies one....and negatives reviews. Their new songs is cathcy (i admitted) that...and yes they're too overated.

Please tell me where you found those rave reviews, 'cause the ones I read weren't very positive. In fact, I got influenced by them and haven't bought the album. Is it any good? I've really loved the previous albums, but this album's singles don't really speak to me.

i think it's because of dani california, that was an ever popular song. i can only tolerate some songs by them, but other than that i would say i don't really like them.
