Depends on what type of girl she is..
If you are confident in yourself, it is best just to ask her. Just be smooth about it, don't go up and say, "Hey (name), just thought I'd stop and say that i like you...Talk to you later." She'll be like..uhhh what a loser.
You have to be more smooth..."Hey (name), your hair is looking great today. (if you are in hs) Maybe i'll see you around after school." What this does it shows that you have interest, but also leaves her for wanting more. From there, It should be easy to flirt and tease with her and get to the point of asking or even her asking you :D

Say "Hi, I'm ___, whats your name?" ...its a starter. But if u know her name and she knows yours, then go up to her and aske her "how are you?" or "how was your weekend?"
