4 - 10 = 6: 6/2 = 3
8 - 20 =12: 12/4 = 3
15: 1+5=6 - 15 = 9, 9/3 = 3
16: 1+6=7 - 16 = 9/3 = 3
23: 2+3=5 - 23 = 18/6 = 3
42: 4+2=6 - 42 = 36/12 = 3
There is a pattern to everything... just have to find one or make one up
3 is the root of everything especially if it's more than 2 digits (lol)
btw... "/" means divided by. I'm sure the author of this question knows, but there will be a few that look at the answers and just scratch thier head

The answer to life, the universe, and everything just got whop'd.
I don't know what that means, but I think it means that someone found out that there is no such The Answer to life the universe and everything, but that there are answers to some things.
As to how this relates to the sequence, the letters of whop'd are in places 23, 8, 15, 16, and 4 in the alphabet, and the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42.

Mathematically no, well not that I can see. Although I see someone has already done some interpolation and come up with a polynomial.
Anyway the only thing I have noticed about them is that their sum is 108 and that is how many minutes pass between button presses on the computer.

they are f(1), f(2), f(3), f(4), f(5), and f(6) of the function:
f(x) = -0.225x^5 + 4.25x^4 - 29.375x^3 + 91.75x^2 - 122.4x + 60
This is the polynomial of least degree which fits the data.
f(7) = 46, f(8) = -52

Yes, they are all the dishes at my local Chinese Take Away that are served with rice. The next number in the sequence is 47 (Sweet and Sour Pork with Rice).

Do you not think it would help you get an answer if you offered more information?
Why do you ask, where do the numbers come from, is it a quiz, have you spotted this sequence somewhere?
Or do you just think people will do all your work for you?

Don't ask this question here. This is the wrong place. Get LOST.
Try Internet sites.
Truthfully, they are significant as a plot device to add mystification and a sense of significance.
They also total 108, and that's there too.

Yup. Guess they're the 'Lost' numbers thing. As for the meaning or actual sequence, wait for the last episode.
