We must remember that colors get their meaning within a specific culture. In the United States, for example, green is lucky, because of the Irish influence on American culture, but it is also the color of envy (the "green-eyed monster"). Green is not the same in other cultures. Red is a positive, propitious color in many East Asian cultures, but not in the United States.
