My daughter, my granddaughter and I are growing our hair for Locks of Love too. We were told that 6 inches was enough. Check with your hair salon or log on to locks of love website and make sure. I will too.
I just checked online and you're right....it is 10....oh well, I've got a ways to go!

That just made my day! Not enough people are as kind for such an awesome cause. I had looked into the requirements because I was going to donate also. I messed my hair up so I am attempting to grow my hair again. I know that because the wigs and hairpieces are so carefully made they need 10 inches of hair to arrange different hairstyles and sizes giving a little room for error. Good Luck with your goal. You are going to give a blessing to someone who needs all the uplifting they can recieve. May God bless you

That sounds like a good idea for you to donate your hair to Locks of Love. As for 10" requirements, it's to cover the basis from scalp to the back of the nape, covering the ball head. Maybe it's easier to manage and to style. For more information, (if you haven't already done so,), check this link out.

Good for you!! I think the requirement is there because the hair is easier to bunch and process when it is a certain length. That and it takes some effort to grow your hair that long so they know people are serious when they do it.

They probably need that much for the wigs they make. I think that's a great thing to do though!
