For remembering long-term information, study material right before you go to sleep. Your subconscious will digest it, and you will have it memorized by morning. Don't panic and start looking at the material again, then panic and start re-studying; you will short-circuit your memory bank. If you haven't studied for test, say a pop-quiz, studying in the morning is best for short-term memory. The brain can more easily access information it reviewed just prior to the test. That is my best advice; got me through college. Good luck!

I'm about to be in grade 10 in some upper level classes, and they always say to use the Cornell Notetaking Method during class and to not only use those to review while studying but also rewrite them for memorization (Cornell Notetaking Method, if you didn't know, is nearly the same as regular notebook paper. However, there is a vertical line that divides the paper into one third (line) then two thirds. There is also a section of about 5 lines at the bottom that allow for a thesis statement and elaboration of the thesis. The top is the heading and subject, the left usually holds titles and words needed to define. The right holds the raw info in summerization and also the definitions of needed words).
The use of this method is a wonderful way to review. (i really hope i explained it in a way that wasn't too confusing, :)! )
If you were talking about location of studying, it wouldn't hurt to study in a quiet place with little clutter and lots of quiet. However, another easy way to help one another is to create a small study group with other students that have similar classes as you do. You can always help each other out when studying.
Hope i answered your question correctly!
:)

Take good notes, even when you are not clear about what is being said. Sometimes when you look at it later and with more information with it, you will begin to understand it better. Make sure you perform all work exactly as requested regardless of what you think about it. Take at least 45 minutes - one hour each night to review the notes from the day and ones from the day before. Study all vocabulary and use a thesaurus for as many words as possible to make a better conncetion. Quiz a study partner on instant messenger or by email to practice the information. Take turns re-explaining something you know, but a friend is not clear about. Good year to you.

There are many ways to study. The key is to find the best one for you. Find out if your a visual or audio learner.
Do you learn best when you see stuff on paper? If so study by rewriting your notes, reading over your notes and text book or make simple flash cards
Do you learn best when you hear things? If so, find a study partner so they you can study by hearing the material or put the major points and/or your notes on tape and listen to them until you grasp the concept.
