Average salaries for pharmacists in CA are pretty high, with medians ususally around $100k-$110k. If you want to look at specific regions, you can use the "basic salary report"s at this site:

Also, PharmD programs are extremely exclusive as there aren't many programs for them and class sizes tend ot be small. The cost is highly variable in CA - and there are only 2 public school programs. Costs at either UC campus are about $9k per yr, not including housing, for 4 yrs. Here is a breakdown of the UC San Diego costs:

Private schools (like USC) are significantly higher. However, pharmacists are in huge demand, and I've heard of many doing freelance work where they go to a pharmacy three days out of every week and charge a higher hourly charge, similar to consultants, instead of being a salaried employee.

Pharmacists make lots of money, just like the other answer said, 90-100k is good, maybe just a little less to start out. You will need to study a lot of chemistry and so forth, but you can do it cheaper by finding a state school that offers the program. In CA, I would hope you could find a school for around 12-15 K a year, but again it would have to be a state school.

im in ny but they usually start around 90 - 100k. its a lot of schooling, so surely its expensive.
