I am working on my AA degree at a community college and then I will transfer to an University to pursue my Master's in School Psychology. I am a little confused about graduating from college... after I recieve my AA degree from the community college, I will graduate from there right? Then when I transfer, I will only graduate after my Master's right and not after my BA then my Master's. I think that would be retarded to graduate 3 times! So do I graduate from the community college and then when I recieve my Master's at the University to make a total of 2 times, or will I just recieve my AA degree, transfer, then graduate with a Master's for a total of 1? I hope this makes since to yall, and Thanks in advance!!

Sorry for the confusion, I know you have to get a BA before the Master's!! I was just wondering how many Graduations I go through before I am completely done with college. It's not retarded getting the degree's, and graduations are not retarded. Graduations are great because it shows you have accomplished something. I was just simply stating that it would be weird to have a grauation every 2 years for 3 times. What I mean by that is: when I think of graduations, I think that one has finished something, but instead I would be going back for another 2 years and then I would keep repeating this. I know I would be finishing a degree, but I was confused on how many actual times I would graduate until I am completely finished, that's why I am asking you!

Hi jlee!

I'm glad you're pursuing your education!

Technically, you graduate after successfully completing the requirements for a given degree, whether you have a graduation ceremony or not! The AA degree earned through a community college is an academic degree. If you complete the requirements for it successfully, you graduate; in other words, you earn your AA degree. Many people choose to stop at the degree level.

If you plan to transfer to a four year university, then your community college years will count as the first two years of your Bachelor's degree. When you complete your BA/BS, you would graduate at that degree level. You could then apply for graduate school and hopefully graduate with your Masters degree.

Those who directly enter a four year university without attending a community college earn the BA degree, bypassing the AA.

Good luck in your studies!

No need to feel bad for asking questions. I am a little confused as to what you are asking though.

You are looking at graduating 3 times, and it will well worth it.
You will graduate with your AA degree from the community college. Transfer to 4 year school and graduate with your Bachelor of Art or Bachelor of Science degree then you will enter graduate school and obtain a Master's degree. You must earn your Bachelor's degree before your Master's degree. Good Luck in all your endeavors.

O.K,, I am a little confused. If you have an AA, that means it's a 2 year degree, right?

In order to go for your MA in Psychology, you will need a Bachelor's Degree and pass the GRE. have you done that yet?

I believe you need to go on 3 times. It's not retarded. Why would it be retarded? I'm confused about that!

If you want an MA in Psychology, the graduate schools mostly likely will NOT accept an AA by itself. You need the BA and pass the GRE.

good luck.

I think that you will need to get your bachelors degree before you can get your Masters. I don't think that having an AA will be enough to get into graduate school.

Anyway, you don't have to go if you don't want to.

You don't have to go to the graduation but each degree is a landmark, they're all seperate degrees so I don't see what is so retarded about it.
