Sorry about your problem - I'm assuming you have told your parents why you don't want to go - obviously they are well peed off with you because it's cost them money - what a bloody cheek some parents have. The best thing I can think of is tell them that you will pay them back the money they have spent and remind them that you are terrified of flying. If that doesn't work then maybe you should let them disown you because having parents like that isn't worth having any, they're being selfish not you. They should have spoken with you about it first. If parents want to be that way there's not much you can do about it. Your parents will feel bad after when they sit back and think of their actions. So make sure you offer to pay back whatever it has cost them for you. Good luck.

Have you calmly explained to them that you have a fear of flying, and would like them to respect this? Perhaps after you let them know that you don't like being in a plane, you can ask your family if you can buy a present for your Uncle that they can take over, as well as call him, and explain the situation.
You can also ask if perhaps there is an alternate way of getting to Cypress. Maybe you can fly across part of the way, and take a train the rest of the way? Or maybe you can wear a blindfold through the ride and go through the whole thing.
Even if your family accepts your staying behind, you also need to ask yourself why you have this fear. Have you ever been on a plane? Yes/ No? Think what is causing this fear of flying and trying to deal with that. Is it the plane sounds, physical sensations? It is important to use this as a situation where you develop yourself and overcome an obstacle, not succomb to it.

I am sure if you explain the reason why you do not want to go to Cyprus by plane they will understand. Your fear of flying is a real thing. Though it would take a lot longer I am sure that there are other ways of getting to Cyprus, trains and boats for example. After all years ago people had to travel this way.
I suspect that the fear of flying is not the real reason why you do not want to go, but what ever the reason I doubt very much that your family will disown you. Stand up to them and speak your mind. Though you are very young you are still entitled to speak your mind. I am sure that they will appreciate your reasons and will appreciate that they have a Son who has a mind of his own and understand. If not, well you will have to suck it and see what happens. But do not make a big thing out of it Please!
I had a fear of flying until I was well into my fourties, then one day I took the bull by the horns and flew from Aberdeen to Kirkwall and have never looked back from that day. We all have mountains to climb and overcoming the fear of flying is yours my dear.
Happy days to you!

Once you get to Cypress, you will probably love it, i know i would, all your family how great... talk to your parents, see if you can make them understand. good luck.

First off, was your family joking? I don't know of any families who say the are going to disown their kid because of something like that. You need to confront them about what they said, and tell them that you feel uncomforable about it. Hope that helps more than what I wrote before. Good luck.

Just go, do you want to live your life being afraid of planes?
The world is full of wonderful places to see, and not being able to travel to them would be such a shame, you would be missing out.
The only way to conquer your fears is to do what you are afraid of.

DISOWN THEM FIRST go to citizens advice and get help for them to pay dole money to you and to find you a place to live - tell them you are being abused at home and you don't tell them the type of abuse that you are getting.

THEY WANT YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THIS WEDDING, AND SEE YOUR FLIGHT ANXIETY AS SELFISH. YOU PROBABLY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE MINIMIZING YOUR DISCOMFORT AND TELLING YOU THAT YOUR FEELINGS ARE NOT AS IMPORTANT AS A FAMILIAL OBLIGATION. YOU WOULD BE CORRECT IN THINKING THAT. BUT THEY ARE YOUR PARENTS, SO THEY FEEL JUSTIFIED IN ACTING LIKE THAT. AND THEY ARE, SINCE THEY ARE YOUR ADULT GUARDIANS.
YOU HAVE TWO OPTIONS. ONE, YOU COULD DRINK A LOT OF NYQUIL BEFORE YOU WALK INTO THE AIRPORT, SO YOU WILL BE RELAXED AND SLEEPY DURING THE FLIGHT.
OR
YOU COULD WAIT UNTIL YOU GET TO THE AIRPORT, THEN DROP A HINT THAT YOUR PARENTS ARE TERRORISTS. THAT WOULD BE MEAN AND CAUSE A WORLD OF TROUBLE FOR YOU AND THEM IN THE FUTURE, BUT IT WOULD GET YOU OFF THE FLIGHT......

tell them its your decision, tell them that you are terrified of the plane and if they dont understand then tell them they are selfish and you would rather be alone than with a family that would put you through your worst fears. hope you get what you want
