They sell fantasies. A beautiful, young, naked woman giving you all her attention is definitely a fantasy of many men (maybe women) out there.

A stripper can make even the most powerful businessman give in to what they want.
Although many women say that showing off your body is equivalent to having no self-respect, it is only part of the fantasy, no?
In a man's fantasy, women rarely have their clothes on.

Also, strippers don't neccesarily sleep with every man they see.
They are always invited into bed, and are always being hit with rude, degrading remarks, and so wouldn't they know very well how people can act?

Men, is it true that strippers are expert manipulators?
Women, strippers are selling a fantasy, why does that make it degrading?
(Assuming of course, that they do not give in to solicitation).

I am neutral on the topic, but I would like to hear your opinion. Thanks. =)

I have known many young women who financed college by being exotic dancers. Business, psychology, and nursing majors who found it a lucrative and easy way to stay in shape and make much needed cash for school (I live in Nevada...) so I don't think there is anything wrong. Besides I can only wish to have a body like that!

I would agree that a stripper is selling a fantasy. And the best ones create a powerful fantasy. However, I can assure you that strippers do not take every guy to bed with them... not by a long shot. Sure, a few will go home with guys but (in my experience) most do not. In my experience, perhaps one time in 30 will the girl agree to do something out of work, and even then it's more like sensual massage and not sex.

Still, the fantasy can be intoxicating.

I have a neutral opinion, however, it's simple economics - if there's a demand, someone will supply. Obviously, the morals of those involved (strippers and customers) are different than many people, but who's to say they're WRONG just because they're different.

By the way, ladies who may think this is degrading (and that's ok) remember this - in virtually every town where you have strip clubs and such, there is usually a "ladies" night where there are male strippers as well. Burlesque truly does span the sexes...

who is the one being exploited,,, the stripper that is simply showing her body to a man or the man that gives her 20 hour's worth of his pay just to see it.

there is nothing wrong with the human body. if someone sees it as degradeing to women then thay should not support it. however many mothers wives sisters and daughters pay their way through college for minimal working hours and maximum pay. is it really any differant than being a nude model. or any other profession.

construction workers destroy their bodies to make a few dollars and they work long hard hours....

many people put theil life at risk for their jobs... stripping seems to me to rather safe and a damn good way to make a liveing...
well for the first 40 or so years of life anyway..

My daughter did that for 2 years. I think she lost a lot of her self respect. She made a ton of money and has nothing to show for it. She could have paid cash for a house.

I think they are whores...whether you want to believe it or not...yes they are selling a fantasy, but there are more decent ways of earning a living for their education. I can see PurpleToad's response as somewhat valid. I have know some people who have used stripping (men and women) as their excuse to accomplish their goals. But don't they see that the "easy way" to one's goal is like selling your soul to the devil...in a way. I don't know. I don't consider myself a "bible-thumper," but I see a lot of the things that we do in our lives as a fork in the road. I mean you can go left: the easy way to make cash and accomplish goals, or you can go right: the harder way to make cash and accomplish goals. The latter ALSO usually builds character and it is more respectable than making the easy dollar... just my opinion.

:D have a great day

I don't think of strippers. They make a decent living. There isn't anything wrong with it. Do you want to strip?
