Some have mouths and others don't, so no, not all moths eat. They eat as much as they can while in the caterpillar stage. Once they emerge from the cocoon, they're main purpose then is to breed and lay their eggs. They die soon after...anywhere from a few days to a week.
And this part has nothing to do with your question, but if you want to know more technical stuff, the males are usually the ones that you see flying around lights at night. The females let out a scent that the male is attracted to, then he goes in search of her.

Some moths do have a probiscus which is kind of like a straw which they eat through. Other species don't and just live on stores of food that they had consumed while they were catepillars. A lot of moths and butterflies only breed once they emerge from the coccoon so don't need to feed. These only live a few day max though

This species is named the Peppered Moth. previously the business Revolution, the moth became into often gentle colored with small black spots to combination in with gentle colored tree bark. After the IR, although, the timber have been darker from the pollution brought about by skill of marketplace. The lighter colored moths have been now no longer able to combination in and have been eaten. Darker colored moths have been able to combination in greater desirable and survived. because of the fact those have been greater desirable tailored, organic decision allowed them to bypass their genes directly to added generations and now maximum of those moths are darker (besides the certainty that there is quite much less pollution now so some have returned to a lighter colour). Lamarck's concept of evolution (circa 1809) includes habit influencing an organism's inheritable features. Darwin became into the 1st to propose organic decision because of the fact the making use of mechanism for evolution (his learn became into from 1831-1836 and became into revealed in 1859). The peppered moth's tale would not contain any habit, even though it does contain organic decision in the process the survival of the fittest, that have been the darker moths.

Some do, some don't. It depends on the kind of
moth. In southern Asia there is even one that
sucks blood like a mosquito, but most of the ones
that do eat probably feed on nectar, as butterflies
do.
