On August 25, 2001, a beautiful R&B singer was taken from this earth in a horrific plane crash. Where were you when it happened? What are your feelings 5 years later?

I remember it very well. I had just got up to turn the tv, my remote broke, it was about maybe 1:00 in the morning, so I turned the channel and I saw her video, can't think of the name of it, but it was one that I believe was based of the sound track with DMX, so I watched it, and when it went off I turned it to the next channel which was MTV and they had the information going at the bottom of the station. I was so shocked I had just saw her video and I don't know if they were playing because she died or if they were just showing it. At first, I didn't know what to think. I told my then boyfriend that she had died in an airplane crash. She was my friends favorite singer, so she was crushed.

I was at work and heard it on the radio. I thought I was hearing things and just couldn't believe it, she was so young. I called my boyfriend and he was like WHA????!!!!!!

I see her videos now and it doesn't even seem like she's gone really. She was such a positive soul and I think she'll be forever immortalized. When Lisa 'left eye' Lopes passed, I felt the loss, probably because TLC disbanded. But with Aaliyah I feel like her spirit is still with us. She left a great body of work behind and had a few good films to her credit. There was so much that she accomplished and could've done so much more, but her family & fans will keep her memory alive fa sho!

I was on a plane and the pilot came on saying that the flight number blah blah has crashed so we were scared then he sed he'd come back with more news later. so our flight was ruined. wen he came back on later he sed that Aaliyah the r&b singer has died in flight number blah. some people who didnt kno here were like ok so what shes just a regular person. so i was mad. but now i feel shes doin better up there with all the angles like herself

I was sitting at home. All of a sudden on BET they said we have bad new's or something Aaliyah has been killed. Oh man I was really sad I didnt even know her. =`(

I was at home. If Aaliyah were still alive, she'd be sooo BIG right now. She was already big, but she'd be doing even more. Her music and movies would've been huge in my opinion.

I didn't even know who she was or that she had died until after her movie came out on rental.... I'm sure she meant alot to you, but in truth, I didn't think her acting was all that good....
