Alot of answers that say my body is not ready yet, let things go on their on and so forth. Reason for question is because my baby is measuring at 41 weeks, head 38 weeks, stomach 31 weeks, legs 31 weeks. OVER the 90th %tile. Maybe i can get some different answers? Yea, he wont come still until he's ready but he weighs 8lbs 8 oz now. Midwife concerned about nerve damage in the shoulders so talking about doing a C-section. Would really like to go natural, but if there is anything to do to help go natural, i was willing. Sex....been doing that 3 times a day for the last week and a half. Cleaning....took things up to the nursery I just should never lift. walked....not much. It feels like he is seriously going to fall out when I stand. But still....I'm open to any other suggestions.

Listen, midwives are great but, let nature do it's thing. (unless there is distress to u or baby) Have it natural. If you have to have a c section so be it. Never heard of the nerve damage thing. Walk some more and have your man play with your nipples. It really works.

You really shouldnt push it, he's just a big baby. His size isnt the only concern, before 37 weeks babies lungs and livers are not fully developed and functional. Its not the size the of baby that determines readiness, its development of his organs needed for survival.
Anyway, i'd say if you're atleast 36 weeks you could try using your breast pump. Just an hour or so for a couple days. It works great for inducing labor. In causes uterine contractions and increases the production of the hormones needed to start labor.
Walk, even though it feels like hes gonig to bust out of your vagina. the pressure of him against your cervix, and the motion will cause him to settle into position for delivery, and prepare your body for labor.
But honestly, if you midwife thought it was a true concern she could either induce your labor now, or schedule you for a c-section. Women, even small ones, give birth to large babies all the time. Usually dislocated shoulders, or at the worst, broken clavicals, are the scariest of the results, and they are easily repaired.
My aunt is 5'5" and she gave birth to a 9 pound 10 oz baby. My grandmother is 5'2" and she gave birth to 9 pound babies. My mom is 5'6" and my brothers were both nearly 9 pounds.
For the sake of the baby you might just have to settle for trying labor, and opting for emergency c-section to ease the risk.

Sad! Thats a big baby! I have known 3 people that have tried the castor oil and it has worked. It will only work though if your body is ready for labor. You mix 3 Teaspoons in with juice. It will make you have diarhea which will disturb everything else going on inside you and will start contractions. If you are ready then it should start labor, if not then you will just be miserable with diarhea and still pregnant. Also, if you drink the castor oil be sure to stay hydrated. Thats the last thing you want is to be in labor and dehydrated. Let me know if you do choose to use the castor oil I want to know how it works for you.

you need to walk more. yeah he feels like he'll drop out, but that's the pelvis moving and the hips aligning. my mom had six kids and walking is what her midwife called for. i was 9 1/2 so don't worry. natural is best cuz it pushes all the fluid out of the lungs and is less traumatic on the both of you, (which you should already know from your midwife). there is nothing else to suggest unless you want the c- section and to feel nothing and have the baby intoxicated from the drugs. walk more. trust me. i've been through quite a few births, (not just my moms).

Oh my, I do not miss that feeling. I will tell you though, I have had both natural birth and c-section, I would prefer the c-section anyday! Hope that helps.
This little girl who plays softball with my daughter has no feeling in her left arm due to an injury at birth where the baby was too big and there wasn't time for a c-section.

I dont know that this works until you are in labor, But try aquatting and lifting one leg then the other. Think sumo wrestler. I heard that this is a natural way to bring the baby lower and allow the hips to spread.

Rub Clary Sage oil on your hands.
Have sex. Put Evening Primrose Oil on your cervix.
You can buy both at a health food, natural food store or anywhere that sells essential oils.
