Super Trick Question?

Henry had 3 quarters more than John who had 2 quarters less than Bill who had 1 quarter more than Henry and John.

How many quarters did Bill have?

HINT: Frank had 12 quarters. John had 2 quarters more than Frank.

The only way this is possible is if you are taking tremendous liberty with saying that people have quarters, when what you actually mean is sums of money some of which may be in quarters and some in other denominations.

If Frank has 12 quarters then he has 3 dollars. If John has two more quarters, then he has $3.50.

Henry would then have $4.25, and Bill would have $4.00.

If Henry has four one dollar bills and one quarter and John has three one dollar bills and two quarters and Bill had three one dollar bills and four quarters, then he would have two more quarters than John and one more quarter than John and Henry.

There is too much that is arbitrary for this to be a really good trick question I think.

There are no boundaries. You are saying quarters when in fact you mean sums of money.

That's impossible to answer. How can someone have 1 quarter more than you if you have 2 less than them? Maybe you want to reword it, unless you mean they have imaginary quarters, then no one has any quarters at all.
