for the most part. call autozone and they could tell you what part will fit. Like my 03 civic has the same alternator as a2000-05 that I know of

It really depends on just what model and what year you are talking about.

For example, if you have a 1991 Toyota MR-2, you can transplant in the engine from a 1993 model without too much trouble. But an engine from a 1989 MR-2 will not bolt up correctly at all. A creative mechanic could probably make one work if he had the '89 transmission too, but it would take a lot of effort.

Some cars take things to even further extremes. If you had a '85 Chevy Nova and wanted to swap in the engine from a '75 Nova, you would need a welding torch and a pretty serious saw to get it to fit. Between those years, they changed the Nova from a rear wheel drive GM-built car with straight six or V8 power to a clone of the front wheel drive Toyota Corolla.

So what car is this, and what parts do you wish to swap?

2 different trans...the 97 has a 4T60E and the 02 has a 4T40E. It would bolt up to the engine, but mounts would have to be changed and wiring modifications would be required. Not worth doing IMO.
