I work in a construction office, I am in charge of change orders. I am fairly new at this. Even though I have tried to follow up on open change orders, I am getting little result.

What can I write in my follow up fax that will get me results..... These GCs want the subs to expidite the changes, but won't help out by pressing the issue for signed change orders.

Online forms sometimes help, but as a former intern project manager the only way to get results is to nag people. Faxes are ok, but it is better to call them let them know you are going to send a fax, send the fax, and call them to ask if they recieved it. During the last call ask them how long it will be before you can expect an answer, in a polite way. Take what they give you and work from there. If they say something like, a day, call back in a day. IF they say a week and that's too long, tell them that. You have to really push your agenda to get heard around a construction site, ESPECIALLY with change orders since it breaks from the original drawings. Keep at it.
