hi, ours was the same and my husband stripped it and he sprayed silicone grease ptfe from maplins on the running tracks which the laser travels back and to on. it works spot on now.

Try a cd lazer lense cleaning disk, sold in almost very electronics and computer carrying store from walmart to compUSA etc.. for about 12 bucks more or less

Hmm. Well, is it the Flat PS2? Or the large one...argh, this coul be said for later.
Perhaps you should take it down to a good repair place...I put it in a pawn shop, since they repair and refurbish things for a low price. ^_^

properly, your question became slightly ineffective, seeing as how we do not understand what the region is, purely that there is one. in any case, an issue-free situation is the lens being dirty (in older fashions, once you've the narrow it isn't likely), in case you want to the thanks to apply it then placed "ps2 lense cleansing handbook" or something right into a search for engine, in the different case let us know what the surely situation is.

id say forget about PS2 gaming for a few months and get a new PS3 when it comes out, brand new machine and still plays the old games, b-e-a-utiful

Yes, most likly the laser thingy is messed up. i have one to, its new cause my old one broke. ur supposed to clean them every month, or they will bust. to do this, THIS IS GONNA SOUND WEIRD but take tooth paste to the cd holder. thats what i do. it cleans it SO GOOD! its safe, and i dont gotta clean it for 2 months!! Or, u can dust it VERY thoroly. Idk, do w/e works for you!

if you still have the box to the ps2 you can send it to Sony they will fix it, and plus you don't have to risk breaking it anymore
