I really want to buy this laptop: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10076570&logon=&langid=EN

But I am not sure what 1 Year Parts & Labour Limited Int'l warranty means. Does anybody know? I hear that Toshiba is great company but the sales associate at the store was telling me how i might have to ship my laptop to Japan if anything happened and all this other stuff. Is this true?

Can anyone please help me out here. i dont know much about laptops. thank you.

Limited means that there is a limit. The warrantly does not cover everything forever. It lasts one year. It does not cover accident, misuse, abuse, neglect, etc.

It does not cover software, cover, finishes and trim,

Does not cover anything done by an external cause.

etc.

Within your country it can be repaired and any Authorized Service Provider.
According to my warranty which is for the US the computer can be repaired anywhere in the world at an authorized repair facility. They give a phone number to call.

You will never have to ship it to Japan but if you are in the middle of China and need repair that may be the nearest facility.

Warranties on just about everything have catches to them, either in the parts covered, or in the actual services that they will provide. Yes, unfortunately, some companies may want you to ship the computer out of country, or at the very least do without it for 30-60 days. This is one reason when I buy something, I NEVER will again get an extended warranty. If it breaks after the reg. warranty period, I just buy a replacement. Everything cost more to repair than to replace new.

I dont know a lot about warranty, but i think a parts and labour warranty means that during that particular period,if a part of the laptop is damaged(excluding physical damage),you can get the new part for free and it will also replaced for free. After that 1 yr period, you might be able to get the part for free for a certain amount of time, but you would pay for fixing it.What i mean by physical damage, is any damage you caused youself.Perhaps you should ask the sales associate to explain in detail, the terms of the warranty.
