A guy should never shave his legs unless he is on the swim team. That is the one and only exception to the rule so your brother is ok. However, before he goes there, tell him to study up on Mark Spitz. Mark won 7 gold medals in the 1972 Olympics. He had a full mustache and hair everywhere. His theory on why is worth checking out for any swimmer. I don't think there has ever been an Olympic swimmer who has come close to his feat.

A guy that I met shaved his arms and I asked him if it was so he could swim faster... It was a joke but I have heard of swimmers shaving their entire bodies, I don't see how it makes much of a difference but as he is a swimmer it isn't so weird, all his team mates are doing the same.
This in no way means that you can't make fun of him tho :)

I think it's fine. Why do women shave their legs? In the spirit of promoting equality between the sexes, I think if a man wants to shave his legs, there's nothing wrong with that.

guys on a swim team shave their legs to be faster. hair causes resistance in the water, therefor slowing them down, its not gay, stop being mean.

Many people shave for various reasons. Swimmers normally do to gain a bit of speed in the water. It doesn't mean he's gay at all. If he starts liking other men romantically, that might be a clue that he's gay.

Not at all. My older brother is a triathlete, & shaves pretty much everything! LOL!!
He's very handsome, completely hetero, & one of the "manliest" men I know! (His wife of 12 years can back me up on that...HAHAHA!)
It's a very parctical thing to do, in the world of sports. Makes one a bit more 'aerodynamic'; & in some competitions, a millisecond can make all the difference.

Certain men do shave their legs for sporting events. Swimming is one of them. My ex-husband shaved his whole body for his body building competitions.

Plucking (tweezing), Shaving, Depilatory creams and Waxing are temporary hair removal methods.
Waxing usually lasts for 3 weeks, but it is painful.
Electrolysis and laser hair removal are "permanent" hair removal methods but are expensive and you have to find a trained professional, otherwise your skin could be damaged.
A review of the various hair removal methods is available at http://tinyurl.com/ob6tt

That's what my swim team did when I was in high school. Seems like the norm for swim teams.
