You will need to reshingle. After removing the shingles the subroof should be treated with an antifungal agent. Be sure to use anti-fungal shingles when you reshingle. If the problem is severe enough you may have to replace the sub roof or even the rafters. If the problem is minor a weak bleach solution will take care of it, however the problem will return in probably one season.

Seems we forgot what our elders knew. They used to run a copper wire along the ridge line to prevent moss and algae growth. Acidic rain corrodes the wire a liitle bit, releasing a little copper oxide down the roof. Deadly to growths. No moss grows under Lady Liberty's feet.

Well if you have a cedar shake you can lightly power wash, if its competition material which rock i would use Little Clorox mixture with water, spray it on let it sit then wash with a hose at low pressure. they sell a moss killer at the hardware to treat the north side of your home. good luck
