They got more morals than republicans, and they're better leaders. Democrats are for the people right? Then why don't the people vote for them?

Because this country is in the middle of a period of religious fervor right now with all the right wing religious nutcases running around and preaching the gospel of conservatism as exemplified by their poster boy George Bob Bush and in Florida his brother Jeb Bob. These are the great unwashed masses who swear God is on their side. Since the Democrats don't use God and the Bible as a crutch like the Republicans do, they're perceived as being anti-God and anti-religion and wind up on the losing end of the elections. Makes no difference that the Democrats want to educate their children - they don't carry a bible with them everywhere they go. So, the bible beaters continue to breed in their trailer parks and pump out more future Republicans every 9 months.

The current Democrat party has been overrun by Liberal extremists who are bent on the destruction of this country. The Democrat party is not what it used to be. Unfortunately, far too many Democrats (regular Citizens, not Elected Officials) are too busy, blindly soldiering away for "the cause", to see that their party has been stolen from them. This isn't the 40's or the 60's anymore. Clinton was not FDR, or JFK, or even Carter for that matter. The Democrats have not been for "the People" for decades.

I am not 100% pleased with the current President or the Republicans in Congress either. I find them to be weak and overly concerned with how the media will portray them. I'm tiered of having to choose the lesser of two evils. However, I see no viable alternative. The current Democratic party has no viable platform. They loose elections because they offer no alternatives. The American people are so sick of the negativism in politics that all a Republican has to do to win is stand up and say, "I am not a Liberal". I think this is proved by the fact that the Democrats couldn't even beat a candidate as weak as G.W. Bush. All the Democrats can say is "Bush is stupid". I guess that says a lot about the Democrat party when they can't even beat such a dummy.

As far having more morals? Democrats are anti-religion, pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-legalization of marijuana and other harmful drugs, pro-teen and preteen sex... What morals are you talking about?

Better leaders? They've been telling the Black community since the '60's to vote Democrat and they would solve all their problems. The Democrats had an overwhelming majority in both Houses of Congress (until recently), the Judiciary and eight years of Clinton. Explain to me why the Black community is still complaining about the same problems that they were in the 60's? It's not the Republicans fault, they were too weak to stand in the way. The fact is that the Democrat party is a corrupt and ineffective joke. The Democrats only care about the Black community where votes are concerned. Solve their problems and the reason to vote Democrat goes away.

The Black community also wants the School Voucher Program to go into effect and the Democrats have been standing in the way of that. Keep people poor and uneducated and you maintain your control over them.

"The People" aren't voting Democrat anymore because most people are smart enough to realize that the type of rhetoric that is typical of your question is just a bunch of B.S.

I think that many people aren't voting, period, because all we're offered from both sides is a bunch of rich, blue blood, career politicians who are only interested in power and money. It's been years since we've been presented with a real leader.

All most people want is someone who will tell the truth, put the Country and the People first, and get the job done right! I don't see anyone at this point, from either side of the isle, that fits that description

Last time, bush won the elections because he used people's fear from terrorists attacks. Also the republicans were successful in using the flip flopper label on Kerry. Hopefully these tricks will not work any more and people would wake up and vote for the Democrats in Nov.

Anyway, if you have been following the news, Lieberman lost because he endorsed the war and was as republican as any republican out there, and people do not want that anymore.

Check the Gallup poll and it will tell you that the Republicans will loose this time around:

"Gallup's "generic ballot" measure of voter preferences for the fall congressional elections finds that registered voters are more likely to say they will support the Democratic candidate in their district rather than the Republican candidate by a nine-point margin, 50% to 41%. This result is within the margin of sampling error for the nine previous generic ballots conducted by Gallup since late February. Public approval of Congress is also not favorable to Republicans."

So people are just sick and tired of the corruption, greed, lack of ethics, and warmongering of the Republicans.

I can't answer for anyone else, but I did vote for the straight Democratic ticket, because basically, the party represents (or at least it once represented) the ideals of an egalitarian society and where even the poorest of Americans could enjoy a minimum standard of quality while keeping those powerful at bay.

Over the years, I realized that the Democratic party doesn't represent those ideals anymore. As a matter of fact, even the most radically progressive Americans are truly conservative by the standards of the rest of the Western world.

So unless a party emerges where we can have true democracy by European standards, I'm not even going to bother voting again. It's useless.

Because they have inept leaders with as much charisma as a three week old salmon. If Hillary Clinton doesn't stand then the democrats don't have a hope of winning the next election, even if Bush reintroduced the draft, raised taxes AND declared war on Iran. People don't really care much about the politics of the party, they care about the leader who represents them, that's who they vote for, not the party.

However many people don't vote democrat because they are traditionally conservative, they'd never even consider voting for anyone other than the republicans - and it wouldn't matter if they DID vote democrat, because they live in a republican state.

People don't vote for Democrats because both parties have lost all touch with John Q. Citizen, and the Republicans are masters of pathos, better at keeping the Democrats on the defensive with loaded words ("unpatriotic", "weak on terrorism", etc.)

I'm an independant liberal. I often vote democrat, but not always. Sometimes I'll vote for green or libertarian, but so far I've never voted for a republican. Republicans are far too conservative in my opinion.

But in the end I vote for whoever I personally feel supports my view points the best.

I wonder why more people don't recognize the alternatives and vote for libertarians or the green party. I guess most of us are stuck in the "either/or mentality" and see only two sides to everything because I always hear of people voting for someone because they don't like the other candidate - that upsets me every time I hear it!

More morals, you say. I admit that I am puzzled by your statement. I can only assume you see nothing wrong with abortion. That is your right, however, there is a decent portion of the American population that disagrees with you. They see it as nothing short of murder.
In which case, the liberal Democrats are far from "moral".

Hope this helps.
