Draw nature. Old people love that! I should know.. having done some drawings for older relatives myself. I happen to be good at drawing, so... that was my only option for a gift. ANYWAY, I obviously can't teach you how to draw totally good in an instant, but I can already give you pointers.

Remember: when learning to draw, it's useful to have a model of what you want to draw in front of you. Get comfortable, make sure your pencil (considering that you are drawing with pencil) is well-sharpened, etc. Next, during the "process" of the actual drawing, be very precise. Draw, at least try, exactly what you see. Even a slight little curve in a petal of your "model flower" is of use to make your drawing good. After that, use shadows. I highly improved in the art department when I learnt to make shadows. You make a shadow with your pencil, but then you use your finger (or a tissue if you're really paranoid ;)) for smudging it. Well, softening it actually. You just firmly, and yet gently, rub your finger over the area where you drew a bunch of lines or such. Finally, just simply remind yourself the fact that she's your grandma, she loves you (right?) and even if you drawing isn't ready to hang next to a Picasso in a museum, she'll love it anyway as long as you took honest effort and time on your piece of art.

Thank you for reading-- I know it was long-- good luck and have fun! :)

You don't have to draw a certain object. Just make a cool design with her name on it or something. Draw some flowers around it, draw some hearts, draw a birthday cake, and color it in and make it pretty. She will love it no matter how good it is, just remember that! :-)

It doesn't matter if you're no artist. Just draw something simple like her name and then frame or something.
