Why won't the selected screen resolution remain when the PC shuts down?

The Icons and other text become too large and the colors are wrong, such as if I had selected a different resolution, (which I have not) each time the PC is restarted. Each time I select the correct resolution 600 X 800 and check apply. The Icons etc perform correctly until the next time I turn on the PC.

I am making the correct change in screen resolution to 600 X 800 under the administrator setting. Nothing will maintain the settings once I log off or the computer si shut down.

Are you making the changes with admin. privledges?
