i have a 1993 nissan 240sx and it doesnt rev over 2500 rpms i drive it and it runs normal until i hit 2500 rpms i have to shift before 2500 rpms in order to keep going and when its idleing and i hit the gas it doesnt go over still i took off the catylitic converter snd it still does the same why is that

and the tailpipe was spittping out a little bit of black liquid and when it dried it looked like motor oil and little bit of black smoke

this happened a couple hours after i put fuel injection cleaner

(air flow meter failure) borrow one from a friends 240sx and swap you don't need to hook up the air filter for the test just solid air leak free to the throttle body to afm. Did you turn the ECM diagnostic switch to check for codes? that year did have engine wiring harness issues right behind the valve cover to the fire wall. Try a known good airflow meter first or disconnect your AFM and see that it does not change.I watch this site let me know
