Yes - If you like military style gung-ho antics, with guns and helicopters.

No - If you want to know anything about the conflict in Somalia that led to the incident.

By the time you have read this you have probably watched the film.
Personally, apart from the sentimentalism which crept into the film, I thought it was good fun actually seeing a re-enactment of a real life situation where a bunch of gung-ho yanks got their asses well and truly kicked by the (allegedly) uneducated Africans whom they were gonna "sort out".
A world superpower versus a bunch of gangsters with a few RPGs!
The names David and Goliath spring to mind!

All I remember is

a) it's an orgy of gunfire- more gunfire than any movie I have ever seen

b) all the characters shout and scream at each other continually.

c) Strangely, the americans aren't winning for a while but of course they do win in the end

d) there's an attempt to depict "them dang frenchies" as being untrustworthy cowards, as I remember.

Worth watching to see the firefight when the chopper goes down though. It IS well done.

Yup... It became a sturdy action picture... I remember being between the few females who're in the theater when we watched it... even with the undeniable fact that it became a sturdy and exciting action picture. The action sequences are sturdy and makes you sense that you're between the warriors. the major reason i said it: Josh Hartnett.

No, absolutely not.
Its a shite film, has shite actors, and is about as enjoyable as having your testicles whacked with a large hammer for 2 hours.
