I remember them. My children loved them and had a squeaky toy each - one Pinky and the other Perky, a wooden jigsaw and an annual about them. One had a string puppet and the other a hand puppet. We also had either a record or cassette tape with singing on it.
They were animated twin boy pig puppets. One always wore a hat, believe this was Perky and they danced and mimed to the pop music. Their voices were highly pitched squeaks. If I recall correctly there was also puppet dog, frog, cow and some mice involved.
When Pinky and Perky were on the TV we all sat together watching them.

When I was a kid, the creepy old man up the road used to call me and my sister 'pinky and perky' so I went out of my way to find out who they were.
They were like 'Alvin & The Chipmunks only without the cartoon show, and british - right!
I think the brought them back in the 80's also.

Yes they were two puppet pigs who had a series on ITV from 1957 to 1973 in black and white and colour. They also covered a number of records sounding like they had taken helium, the covers were terrible but were inflicted on children by parents.

Were they pigs? I have a vague memory of a cartoon with pigs, and i think they were pinky and perky.

god yes id forgotten about them. the only way to tell them apart was perky had a brown nose. there friend was a tortoise but cant remember his name. if you get it let me know on my 360 page. thats gonna do my head in now.

Vaguely. I don't think I'm old enough to remember them being on television regularly. Somewhere we have a old LP with a recording of them I think. I haven't heard it in years, so they probably don't sound like I remember them to!

Yes ! I used to have one of their EPs (7 inch vinyl with 4 tracks on it) one of the songs was 'Chick chick chick chicken, lay a little egg for me'. Sheer genious !
