No I do not agree with the people who think animals have no right to love, dignity or respect, I wish they could come here now and see my beautiful dog, we have just had really bad news about our dog and are totally devastated, how can they say that you shouldn't love a dog, our dog has given us nothing but love and joy and we have given her the same in return, we respect our dog and would never put her in any situation she doesn't feel happy with, what do I do on Tuesday when the vet tells me there is nothing more that can be done for my dog, dump in a skip somewhere to die or do I let her end her life with the dignity she deserves, how callous and cruel those people are, they must have no heart or love in their soul to say what they do very nastily about any animal.

Only ***-holes think like that, I find it disgusting that humans can be so cruel to mother nature and all the beautiful creatures that are on this planet and that's a fact, be they ugly looking or not!

People who do such things deserve to be treated like the animal they hurt! For instance one time I saw a man in a park belting his dog(An Alsatian)with the chain from his leash, and it was quite violent. The dog was yelping like mad and nobody paid any attention except me!
I thought the miserable bastard a lesson by scaring him half to death by belting him with a stick and asking him how he liked it! Hard to believe I know but I did it, I won't stand for any kind of cruelty be it a human being or an animal. We all hurt and we all feel pain no matter what species we are.
All I know is we should all do as much as we can be it from a stray dog to an Elephant, that's why I joined the WWF and Greenpeace...

The problem with the human race is that, the majority believe we're superior to all other species, and therefore have the right to use animals for our benefit. This isn't based on any concrete evidence but merely on the fact that fits in conveniently in with what's good for human beings, it also bolsters our sense of our own importance. It's just another form of prejudice, animals don't look like us or behave the way humans do so they must be an inferior species and can therefore be exploited. Considering we believe that we're so terribly advanced and civilised, it's a somewhat stupid and ignorant belief. We aren't special, we're just a different animal species, and while I obviously value my friends & familes lives above the lives of animals, I value my cats' life higher than that of someone I've never met.

One shows one's humanity and civilized state by the way in which one treats animals and - more recently - the natural environment.

On this Earth we interact in complex ways that are as yet not understood. Thus it is logical that one should be as respectful to other beings, just as they should reciprocate. Now, I'm not saying that if you don't step on a flower, it will give you a kiss. But if you treat animals with the respect they deserve you will usually be respected by them. The same goes for love and dignity.

A caveat: You probably are referring to pets or domesticated animals. In any case, make sure that your respect of animals means a wide detour around those that are larger, nastier and faster than you.

I think all living beings should be treated with love, dignity & respect. The good, the bad & the ugly ... treat all as you would like to be treated yourself.

I think those people don't deserve to be treated with love, dignity or respect!

Absolutely not! animals are creations of God with souls and
feelings, and anyone who mistreats one of these creatures,
is mean and cruel! I feel bad when I even swat an annoying
fly ! So, I guess its ok for a dog to locate trapped people in
a caved in building or protect them from a would-be attacker,
but that same dog shouldn't be loved or respected, give me
a break!

No I dont, some people think they are showing superiority by being masterful?? in handling animals cruelly, some people think animals are so low down on the importance scale they dont deserve love or affection, and some foreign communities still eat dogs

Of course we need to respect animals. However they are not humans. I personally eat meat, because I like it and it's good for me. I also am very glad the medicines I and my children take have been tested on animals, so that I know they are safe.

Guess I've never mixed with that group.
I understand that in the 1940 and into the 1950's pets were trated like pets, they stayed outdoors, ate outdoors, and it would have been unthinkable for a pet to have slept in your bed, licked your dish, etc.
So I'm real happy things have changed because my pets have been my best friends, they get respect and good care.
