There are more Cubans in the USA than there are in Cuba. This is because they don't want to live under the oppression of their communist government. All the Cubans try to come to American where they are able to live in peace and freedom.
Actually that is how Castro solves his over crowded prison problem - He takes the criminals and says America is that way go

Well, Cuba is no paradise, but you do have a good point...Free health care for EVERYONE, free education (including university)for EVERYONE, and don't forget, after Katrina, Cuba offered to send doctors to help out in the US, but Bush said no thanks...I guess politics are more important than saving peoples lives.

Now comes the question who is America actually better than? Not to sound non-patriotic, but America isn't really what makes America great. It's the people, always has been and always will be. The country was founded on those noble principles, but the our forefathers couldn't of conceived the corporate monstrosities of today.. or maybe some part of them did?
We should as a country, try to be a role model for the world, and less attempting to create a modern rendition Germany's WW2 push for global dominance through force.. America has after all such a great potential (both geographically and economically) if we could only really realize it and step back for a moment to understand that we are all human beings, we might actually start getting things taken care of. You know the little things like curing cancer, maybe aids and maybe just maybe create a better standard of living for every inhabitant within.
I love my neighbors, not for being American but for being great people.
Can someone answer why we still have an embargo against Cuba? Anyone??

That hurricane was something else, it changed directions many times, No one knew exactly where it would come a shore. I do believe the state and federal governments did a poor job of helping the elderly and the disabled. But if you were employed and making 9 dollars an hour, you had ample time to leave the area. I don't think there are any Cubans making 50k a year, other than Castro and a few cigar makers.

You really need to ask that? There was no response to Katrina because someone was busy vacationing for 6 years straight... Cuba doesn't allow you to come or go without a permit and it is a much more military ruling.. although the USA has become much more like it in the last 6 years.
Look how many try to escape Cuba to reach the USA, at the risk of their lives...

I think with each individual country has some good qualities.
I would agree that in those instances above, Cuba handled the situation better than America did. Would I say that Cuba is better than America? I wouldn't.

Cuba has 11,382,820 (July 2006 est.)
United States 300 Million
CUBA GDP - per capita (PPP):
$3,500 (2005 est.)
United States $47,000.00
I would like to get my hands on some of those old cars! But comparing Cuba to the United states is like comparing New York as being the USA.

I guess that is why the US has to stop all of those US citizens from taking those boats and immigrating to Cuba.
And no one is poorer than the other because none of them have any real wealth
And in the US, the difference if they did nto leave they were not shot. In Cuba you basicly obey the orders of the police are you are put in jail.
In the US, many people refused to leave even when ordered.
But it was not "America" it was the city officials who failed to use thier own buses and obey the plan they had made. So it was not all of America it was a few poor local leaders.

Cuba offered 1200 medical personnel & 3 tons of medical equipment to the US to help with Katrina victims. Bush did not even reply . " Better dead than red" I guess, as long as none of his crowd were in danger

Cuba's so-called universal health is shoddy. The medicines are not there and the equipment is antiquated.
But I agree on you on America's health care system. The bottom line is not your health but can you pay for the treatment.
