I'm gay, so I wanna know what do straight people think & know about gays from all around the world.
Well, I've got some answers from homosexual ppl, it's ok, but I wanted to add something, that homosexual men usually are not the girly-acting & I'm not talking about them, 'cause some ppl after knowing that someone is gay, they respond to them badly & hurt them.
Note: There is no difference between active or passive gays in the look & that's the truth, it only differs in the sex.
Another thing to add, the true gay, never likes the girly acting men & usually who act like that are faking it or sick.

Gay people are actually depressed people. Gay is the wrong word for them. It's depressing to think of these poor misfits. To began with homosexuals(this is the correct word, not gay)are genetically inferior and are mental cases. Just think about it a guy who likes guys must have too many female hormones in his body and the same with a woman who prefers women.
It isn't your thought. you had nothing to do with it. But never make the mistake of thinking it is ok to be a homosexual because it is not.
It was defective genes. you should try to seek help and get well. It's a physical/mental problem of which gays must be aware of to get help.

Love the person, not their problem. I think that if you could change you would because you didn't chose this life style. Why would you? You have to live with the stigma. You will never have the "normal" family, Mother, Father, 2 kids and a dog type family. But you gotta do what you gotta do. I do believe in God and His plan of happiness and it all depends on the family. I'm not sure where gays fit in with that plan but I know that it will all work out in the end. I realize that some gay relationships are happier then the hetero combo. I have an niece that is a lesbian and she is the sweetest person. She hasn't met Mrs. Right yet and has had some disastrous friendships and been very hurt. I wish you all the love and luck in the world.

Sorry, I know this question is for straight people, but I couldn't resist.

As a lesbian in her late 30s, it is good to see that the straight community's perception of gay people continues to improve. I see here that there are about 4 supportive or neutral responses for every 1 negative response. Just 10 years ago, I would have considered it pretty impressive if the responses were 50-50 positive and negative.

I also know that this site tends to skew younger, which tells me that it is the younger generation that is showing this wonderful acceptance and open-mindedness.

It gives me great hope for the future, knowing that within a generation, it is you people and your attitudes that will represent the majority in this country, and that will go a long way to shaping both public policy and social attitudes.

Thank you for keeping progress rolling forward for gay people, and for all of us! :-)

OK, I'll get off my soapbox now... straight people, carry on!

Just reading the other responses, I'll include some of them in mine.

I am from the south, and not everyone down here is an ignorant hypocrite. I live in Tennessee and my best friend is from Arkansas and he is gay. I have been nothing but supportive of him since he came out, and anyone who would hate someone they claimed to love and/or be friends with because of their sexuality needs to grow up.

I am also a Christian, and not all Christians are ignorant hypocrites. Many are in the more conservative denominations, but it isn't always the case. God said to love one another as you love yourselves and as you love God, and He didn't put any qualifiers on that. Like, He didn't say love everyone, unless they're gay. Or unless they're not a Christian. Or unless they're not white. Or unless they're not any other thing that's considered the mainstream in the states. God loves everyone of us, and made us this way, and as a Christian, we should strive to do the same.

In the end, I'm just a straight girl who has met some of her best friends in the gay clubs and lesbian bars in Nashville. It is definitely not where I saw my life going, but I couldn't be happier.

i think gays are just like everyone else. i know a few gay people and i dont mind at all. I was watching this stand up on comedy central and this guy was like in a couple of years from now it will be the straight people who have to come out of the closet and be like im straight! and it will be normal to be gay. it was funny.

...I don't care. I mean really. I have gay friends and they act no different than anyone else. One of my lesbian friends came onto me, I told her I was straight, and that was that. It's nice to know when a person is straight or gay (to try and set them up with people! He he), but it's not like urgently needed information.

i live down south and gay men are viewed as gross and disgusting... but that is the culture down here... in the male's social role he is expected to act and perform certain roles that most often gay men do not do or have... homosexuality is also seen as an offense in the sight of God which of course does not help the homosexual's social case either in this area... this puts them up early with two strikes against them... personally i think it is often a cry for attention or a trend like linds78 said above, its odd no one goes around asking what people think of straight guys... that's not all that homosexuals are viewed for but that's all i care to discuss at this point...

the bible says alot of things. reading it word for word isn't the brightest thing to do espicially since it's been changed 54654651 times, i mean there's alot missing out of it and PEOPLE wrote it so it can't be too perfect (and you can't pull that "well god told them what to write" bullshit because wether god told them or not people have free will so they might've put a little of their two cents into it every now and then). God wants us to be happy. straight, gay, bi, transgendered. there are wars going on all over the world and children dying in the streets everywhere. god has more to worry about then we love.

well, fluffy...you shouldn't be surprised and the usual bible-thumping ignorant responses you got. but I just have to laugh at the response from PVD RI, who obviously has never met any lesbians in his life! he stereotypically said:

When I think of a lesbian I think of:

1. steel toed boots (don't own any)
2. flannel shirts (don't own any)
3. baggy jeans with a tapered leg (no baggy...I like regular straight legs)
4. like dogs (no dogs, I have cats and fish)
5. like the country (live in the city)
6. drive subarus and fords (nope, I've had toyota, chevy and jeep)
7. cut their hair short (so do a lot of straight women)
8. have occupations for electric companies, telephone companies, gas companies, meter maids (no, I'm a corporate travel consultant)
9. hate guys, but usually hate gay guys 10 times more (I don't dislike guys at all...and 99% of my guy friends are all gay)
10. they wear granny panties and do not shave their crotch (no I don't, and yes i do!)

What do gays think about straight people? We are all just people looking for love, no matter our taste in clothes, food and even partners. If you are happy in your life then i am happy for you ,as i would hope you would feel the same for me.

The same thing I think about people with blue eyes. They were born that way.

I personally enjoy most gay males as there is no sexual tension between them and me, a straight woman, they are usually better informed, funnier and more open than the f-----g A sports bar types I've also known.
