I began getting into computers as of February of this year. I am 63 years old. This all means I am definitely a newcomer. However, I believe a CD-R, once you have written to it, that's "it." Nothing further may ever be added to it. You can pop a new, blank one into your burner and begin again, but no additions if it is a CD-R. The question I would like to ask is how about CD-RW discs? It seems to me those are re-writable. But your question is fantastic about being able to add some more information - I would modify your question to include: "Can you add additional information to a CD-RW disc after you have written to it - ?" I know someone will give you a better answer, but thank you for asking about this. I know for a fact that the CD-R discs are a one-shot thing. You write and that's it. No further modification can be done. I will be interested to find out if the CD-RW discs can be added to after you have already written to them. Sent with a big thank you for bringing this matter up on Yahoo! Answers. From Chris in South Portland, Maine, U.S.A.

as far as i understand you do no longer format CD-Rs -- in elementary terms CD/RWs. you desire a burner, and format the CD/RW with the utility that powers the burner. My Samsung makes use of Nero, and my Dell makes use of DLA. it works, yet once you desire them for archives storage, you would be greater helpful served to speculate in an exterior no longer easypersistent or flashdrives which carry so plenty greater and which do no longer could be formatted.

CD-Rs are "one time only" CDs. Once they have been written on, it physcially changes the material they are made out of so that they can no longer be changed. So, no, they can not be reformatted or otherwise reused or changed.

no, only CD-RW's can be used again and again. CR-R's are one time only.
