The best way is to strim, then dig/rotavate going down as far as you possibly can, ensuring that you get rid of as many deep roots as you possibly can. Then be prepared to keep, weeding and using the hoe on a regular basis as many seed heads will be embedded into the soil and will start to come through and unless you keep on top of it you will soon be back to where you started.

It will be a lot of hard work, but you will be rewarded.

Tell the police you buried someone there a few years back but you don't know who she was and it was dark when you buried her but now you are unwell you want to confess. You will be done for wasting police time but this is the best way to clear an overgrown allotment.

Hire a bus full of mexicans. Sorry but everybody is at to night. No the easy way is to rotovate after strimin it but best way is to cut it back with strimmer and other cutters for tougher overgrown plants and veg then use your back with a good fork and turn that ground by hand.

Napalm, borrow a pig they are purpose built to do it, failing either of these dig the weeds out by hand, this is better than rotivating as some weeds like docks will continue growing back if their roots are not removed completely

burn the overgrow then use a rotivator on it. use the ash as a compost mix.
