I haven't used any p2p programs or anything remotely like it yet my spybot S&D finds it when it scans but can't remove it. I googled it, and found a registry file listed that the site claims must be removed to rid it from PC my but when I try to do this it says the file is in use and denies access to deleting it. My pc is running really slowly and not performing well at all - I'm sure it's connected to this Bearshare. What can I do? I'm a complete novice when it comes to computers - but I need it working as I'm a student and rely on it! Thanks.

If you have windows XP: Go to the [start] menu on the lower, left hand corner of your screen. When the menu comes up find the option [run] and click it. When the prompt appears type in [msconfig] This will bring up a number of tabs. Go to the tab [startup]. There you will find a list of programs that will run when windows is booted. Find the ones that you know shouldn't be ran and deselect them. Then go to the [general] tabe and select [diagnostic start up]. click [ok] and then it should ask you to restart you computer. Do so and if it doesn't restart it anyways. If this doesn't help I have no idea.

Try Add/Remove Programs. B.S. may be running in the background so Ctrl + Alt + Delete and check task manager for it and shut it down before trying to delete.

here's what you do.....go to download.com and type in ewido and see what comes up....a virus scanner should come up....download that then run it in safe mode... look thorugh download.com and you can find all kinds of things to download that will take spyware and malware and virus' out of your computer.... my best advice for you is when you get all that done to download a virus scanner that runs at all times and is better than anything i have ever seen. It's called AVAST....look it up...its great and your computer will thank you

You could try 'Hijack this!', or Trend Micro's Housecall. Either one should solve your problem.
