Z for Zachariah won an Edgar Award in the juvenile category in 1975. The book's title is explained by the main character. Recalling that Adam (whose name begins with the first letter of the alphabet) was the first man according to the Bible, she presumes Zachariah is the Bible's last person (or its oldest).

Most people choose a book by the cover. Don't let them fool you. If the title sucks, but the cover is cool, the book will be read. There is an author that was not able to be creative past the book jacket, She went from A to Z with mysteries....I hope to never be so lazy. It appears to me Chicken, that someone just tried to be jazzy, using her style. Maybe they thought it was cool. Zachariah is a very cool name, and Z is for Zachariah, among other things. Titles are just too important in writing to do that kind of schtick. Nana
