He is a fictional character and has no race. As a marketing tool, his race is ambiguous and is most effective if everybody thinks he is the same race as themselves.

Mr. Clean looks like a light skinned black guy, a Puerto Rican guy or a very tan White guy. He's darker than me and I'm black.

He is a white gay guy, Duh

Its mascot is the character Mr. Clean, a muscular bald man who cleans things very well. According to the company, his image is supposed to be that of a sailor, although most people think he is a genie based on his earring, folded arms, and tendency to magically appear at the appropriate time. Mr. Clean has always smiled on the packaging, except for a brief time in the mid 1960's when he was frowning on the package.

The english language has cleverly implied the word (and color) white to mean - pure, good, clean, divine, angelic, etc etc. The colors black, yellow, brown, etc have been assigned traits not too complimentary. So, these words are often used as an insult. It is incorrect to call any race by the color. But its easy to see why whites don't mind being called whites, but others do. If you must - (for an ethnological study for instance) - call them by the continent of their origin. If you must - (for a sociological study for instance) - call them by their nationality. But in day to day life, call people people ! call them by their names. call them mister or miss.....why do we need to call them by the color anyway?

MY question is WHY are whites called WHITE and blacks called BLACK to begin with? I would rather be called by my ethnic ancestry which is probably congolese or something. As reparations all blacks should get a free DNA test to trace their ancestry =P
