Here is the reference I saw... mind you I saw it in a post... so... well... who knows

(1 Samuel 18:1, 3 - 4).
Here, I'll quote it - "And it came to pass, when he had made an end of
speaking unto Saul that the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David
and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Then Jonathan and David made a
covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan stripped himself
of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to David, and his garments, even

Leviticus, if one reads "The (Levitical) Law" carefully is nothing more than a Survival Guide for a tribe of people on the brink of extinction.

Most, if not all, of "the laws" contained in Leviticus are never used these days due to the advent of knowledge and/or technology. There are still segments of the Jewish community that still adhere relatively strictly to "the law", however. But they are few.

It is odd that when "the law" is quoted these days it is almost always used to point out why homosexuality is not a good thing. Nothing else contained in "the law" is ever quoted.

This merely illustrates those using Levitical Code are pickers and choosers: using what they will to support their all to flimsy argument against the GLBT community, and who are too ignorant (stupid?) to realize that Leviticus was meant to keep a culture ALIVE when they were on the verge of extinction. Again, It is nothing more than a Survival Guide that is centuries out of date.

I suggest giving it a good read someday...perhaps when in the bathroom and you've gone through all the past issues of 'Better Homes and Gardens' and 'Popular Science', etc.

Best Wishes!

Yes, the David and Jonathan story is the closest there is to anything that talks about romantic love in same-gender form. There's also one later with Ruth and...who was it?

But they use the Leviticus passage because they can't find much else. And they admit that most of the rest of the purity code in Leviitcus is outdated.

Christ said the he was the law, and the law was God, and God wanted us to love Him and each other. Love is the law...that's it. Those who preach hatred are not using the Bible as it was ever intended.

First off picard is wrong, it has nothing to do with faith. What most Christians don't get is that the book of Leviticus is not, repeat NOT the word of God, it is in fact laws set out by the Pharisees of the day. The book itself is littered with so many prohibitions, it becomes almost comical to watch Christian contort themselves to justify some of the laws yet ignore others all the while conveniently making excuses. It is proof positive that Right Wing Christian Fundamentalist Zealots are unworthy of even being considered serious in their so called faith, many are just convenient Christians who use what they pick and choose so they can justify their own inadequacies and their own low self esteem, after all why try to better yourself when you can simply attack someone else. "Why condemn a man for the speck in his eye when your ignore the speck in your own eye."

Most people use the Bible to justify their hate and fear of things either they don't know or understand. The Old Testament, in a nutshell, is archaic and barbaric. Some cultures follow the Old Testament LITERALLY and that's pretty dangerous. Using any book of faith(whether it's the Bible, Quran, or any other book)to facillitate an agenda of fear, violence, and hate is deplorable. I have to check out that part in Leviticus about the two bros getting married. Hope my answer helped some:).

Any Christian who tells you that the OT would not count number is incorrect and is not a real Christian! issues that are contained in the OT are nevertheless in outcome, except Jesus stated that they don't look to be. all the regulations commandments and statutes were obeyed through Jesus except for the sacrificing of animals, because He stated that he became the the sacrifice, so as that now not applies. each little thing else nevertheless does except he says it would not. Jesus stated that He got here to satisfy the regulation, now to not abolish it, so as this is evidence that what became stated about homosexuality ( so a ways because it being an abomination contained in the eyes of God) continues to be incorrect. Now, in accordance to the NT, you could not stone a gay individual to lack of existence, or perhaps with the punishment became on the on the spot. A gay individual should be talked to through a set of believers ( or perhaps with unlawful habit is being engaged in ) and if that individual chooses now to not regulate their recommendations, the NT tells you to stroll faraway from them, God will manage a sinner that chooses to maintain sinning.

Exactly.

The Bible doesn't even mention Homosexuality exept for that ONE line "Man shall not lay with man" & in Saddam & Gammorah, which was punished for WAY more than simply being homosexual.

But apparently, most so-called "Christians" don't even bother to look at the Bible before they open thier big, fat, bigoted mouths & talk about what "God" thinks is best for us.

The Bible also said "Live & let live", but no one seems to remember that part, because they are too preocupied with thier opportunity to hate others who do not live thier lives to thier standards of rightiousness.

Anyone that says "God" hates anyone is the only true enemy to "God".

That is called "Blasphamy", & God hates that more than anything else.

So next time these self-rightious pricks try to tell you what "God" wants, I give you permission to cast the first stone, as you are the only true ones that are without sin.

The Church is no longer restricted bye the old testament "law." Christ didn't say that the old testament was wrong, he said that he came to fulfill what was written about him and that he wanted to free us from the law. Christ himself never said anything about homosexuality (at least that is written in the Bible).

People have used the Bible to back up whatever point that they want to say. We have to remember that we read translations of an older version of Greek. When we read we have to figure out what is truly trying to be communicated.

I have read the Bible and have never seen anything about two men getting married. There is a section about man lying with man tho. Could you give me a reference so I could check out what you mean?

they "use" verse out of text to justify their bigotry. I don't think most of the "haters" have carefully read the Bible in it's entirety.
I picked up and booklet at our recent Pridefest, and yesterday, found a link to the same reading online. I know the "haters" will probably ignore this, but it's a very interesting read about what the Bible does, and doesn't say about homosexuality.

because that's the only way they know to defend their incomprehensible hatred, if they could actually read they would know the bible has gay marriage, death for adulterers and disobedient children, slavery, prostitution, polygamy, other abominations include eating shellfish, planting two crops in one field, being near a woman with a period , touching a pig (no more football), wearing 2 types of cloth at the same time, and women were to remain silent in church. it also tells you how to get the best price when you sell your extra daughters.........now that's a book we can all get behind. dontcha think? lolololol

One, in Leviticus 18:22, God outlawed homosexual behavior. The Law still applies, to say it doesn't would mean that rape and murder are also ok.

To your reference to David and Jonathan, He only took off his robe and armor. Additionally, a kiss was a normal greeting back then, such as the one Judas gave Jesus.

Homosexual behavior is a sin, bc it goes against God's design for sex and marriage. God designed sex to be in marriage between a man and a woman. Anything outside of that is sinful.
