Absolutley, the mind has a way of blocking out painful things that are too traumatic for the person to process at that time (usually becasue it happened at such a young age) Follow your heart and please, if it trouble you, invest in a good psychotherapist.

sure-- full memories evolve over your childhood. Some things your memory function isn't fully functional yet, so you could't remember if you tried to.

I remember reading one survey where a group of adults said that had 100% recall of seeing Bugs Bunny at Disneyland as a child. bugs Bunny is Warner Brothers, and isn't part of disney.

So, I would take with a large grain of salt any hypnotist, etc, who says they can tap the memory.
Unless you are not functional as an adult, and think something might have happened that you need to know about as an adult -- then try and move on.

If you had been old enough and the incidents bad enough, they could have triggered some schizophrenic or multiple personality behavior.

Whatever it is, I do hope you find a way to move on, or put your fears to rest.

Yes it is possible that you "repress" certain unpleasant memories. I would suggest that you should realize that you cannot change what happened in the past.

Being close to 75 I don't remember much of my childhood. But here is one memory I have still clear in my mind. I was about 10 in Germany when bombs were "raining" in our area almost every night.

One night the sirens sounded alarm (as usual) and I had to get down from my 3rd floor bedroom to the basement (as usual). However, when I jumped out of bed and out the door I took a wrong turn and for the life of me I couldn't find the door to the staircase!

I went this way and that way, no luck. I could hear my parents yelling to get down, NOW! But I just couldn't find the way. I was in utter panic. Then I told myself: there has to be a way, it couldn't have disappeared!

I stopped, looked for my room, went to my bed and started over. It was easy then, I had done it so many times before. But all through my life I remembered that panic feeling.

The memory of that panic instance taught me a valuable lesson: panic is wrong and can be fatal! Slow down, back up and start over rationally.

If your "bad dreams" are effecting your thinking and/or judgement remember,
they are from the past which no one can change. Slow down, back up and start over rationally.

Yes, it's possible. That would be called repressed memory. It's when something bad happens that you just can't deal with. Your mind pushes it away and you forget it. Many times those memories return years later in bits and pieces....sometimes even fully. Talk with your therapist if you have one.

Be careful in trying to retrieve repressed memories, and don't let a Social Worker help you, as trouble lie ahead.
