Absolutely not. Otherwise trash wouldn't be taken care of, everyone would get sick from not cleaning things and bad hygiene, and you would get downright grumpy pretty quickly. I've tried it for a couple of days, and trust me, it don't work.

Nope, no way not at all.
If you only do what you love then who are you expecting to take care of you?
No one wants someone around who doesn't want to do anything except what he loves to do.
People go to work and they don't love their job but they know they have to work or no money and if you don't love your job then you are saying that you're no going to work? mmmmm!
No, everyone has to live with things they would rather not do and just make the best of it.
If we all did just what we wanted to do and not do what we didn't want to do then we could all say that we are members of the Bush family because they only do what they love to do and not a damn thing else, like start wars and show other countries how terrorists really do their job. Terrorist really do love their work and so much so that they even die doing them, is this what you mean?

Not if that means hurting someone you love, or not taking care of yourself and the things that are important in your life. For instance, just because you love heroin doesn't mean you should do it. But if you're talking about living your life by your own rules and not caring about what other people have to say, then yes. It's what I try to do :)

Well, if you really love crack, I would say no. It does help in the workplace to do something you enjoy. Unfurtunately, this might be a recipe for disaster when considering burn-out. (There's a reason my nick is itexpat.)

Absolutely not. We have other human beings on this Earth who matter, sometimes more than ourselves. Why go through life, living only for yourself, when you could have the opportunity to help others, maybe reach their "Love" in life? What about our sons and daughters? Are you going to say "screw them, I'm doing what I love." Or are you going to think outside yourself, and help them grow to be wholesome, good people? That whole statement you asked about it totally selfish. We are put on this earth to help others as well as help ourselves. That help could be learning to grow, learning to care, or to help others learn how to do what they love, without being selfish about it. I think most of us have a good enough conscience to know that there's more to life than just living for our wants. It is a good question and I bet your getting alot of great answers. I just know that I speak from my own experiences. It's hard to live for oneself when there are so many other great people in our lives to share our thoughts and feelings and knowledge with.

For sure. I think every child should be taught this concept in grade school.
I wished I learned it earlier in life. Then I wouldn't be a civil servant in the tax department!

yes, and no.
i believe that happiness comes from not only doing that which is kind, but also that which brings you joy.
i believe that if individuals do what they love, they perhaps are happier than individuals who does what they do not love; however, there are certain circumstances which prevents everyone from doing that which they love...
for example, i love to sit at my lap top and write for endless hours; however, circumstances prevents me from being able to do that as often as i would like, my job, for instance, without it i perhaps would be on the streets...

No. Life is not only about the thing that one like. Sometimes you have to do some thing that you don't really love. Do you love to clean up? Well, I don't but I have to do it. That's life! Sorry to disappoint you.

Weeellll - it works for me because I am rich and have someone to clean up the mess, take the blame, etc., for me. If you can't afford that - you may end up in jail.
