It was called Ulay in the UK and Olay in Europe, so the name was standardised across europe as Olay. Similar things happened to Marathon/Snickers and Jif/Cif

it's been oil of Olay for as long as I've known of it, more than 25 years. Are you from another country? Perhaps it's called Ulay there? Or maybe they aren't the same thing at all?

I've never seen Ulay, only Olay.

In different countries it is variously called Oil of ... Olay, Ulay, Hulay, and maybe more.
I have no idea why.

Oil of Ulay is from Europe. That is what they call it. When I was in Sweden, I saw it in the drugstore labeled "Ulay" with the same design and everything.
