Don't give me crap about posting in the Government section, because USPS is a gov't agency.

We've been expecting mail from Austria for weeks now, and it typically gets here in about 6-10 days. The odd thing is that for the past week and a half, the PO Box has been COMPLETELY empty.
In another instance, I was expecting a package from South Africa. Two or three months later, I hear it came back "Return to Sender," and apparently the postmark says it DID reach the US.
So this guy I live with is ranting, and says Bush got busted spying on people. I missed that headline. What did I miss?
There's a woman I know a few states over who has business mail returned when she knows the addresses are correct and current. WHAT IS THE DEAL?

Anyone have ANY idea what's up with the US mail system lately???

In theory I'd say your main problem is the barcodes. If you get saddled with a bad barcode, for one reason or the other, forget about Bush, you have a big problem. One thing I'd suggest is using tracking. Express and Priority automatically have tracking numbers on them and all accountable items are now scanned at point of delivery, but with tracking on the item it gets more eyes-on time. Other problems are a result of the fact that in the summer the Computer Forwarding System temps are replaced by even more incompetent temps. Fortunately prime time is almost over.

Let me tell you the story. As you know the US was attacked on 9/11 (okay duh, right) on September 13, 2001, the day after the attack our address in the complex was changed to facilitate emergency services. They DAY AFTER. Question: how were they able to make such a change so fast without any input? Also, with the address change, which they made, they started sending mail back that was addressed to the people in the complex as being unable to delivered as addressed. The USPS wanted all the residents of the complex to put in address change forms, after the USPS changed the address. Yes, something odd is going on in the USPS in rural America.

Yeah, my mailman doesn't deliver the mail until 3 pm. If you want to find him though, look in one of the neighborhood taverns.
