I'm doing the ASPIRE "Swim the Channel" challenge in my local pool. I'm going to swim the equivalent length of 22 miles, which is 1,408 lengths!! The challenge begins on Sept 11th and thankfully I can do it over a 12 week period. I'm not very fit!

I'm currently in training I have been doing 75 lengths in just under 2 hours. The last time out I got cramp in my leg on the 71st length. Am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?!

Don't push yourself too hard, if you can't make it this year try again next year.
For practice, try swimming 5 days a week starting from what you can swim now and gradually increase the amount of laps. Swim slowly so you won't get tired fast.

Just keep on trainin and try to pick up the pace, ur gettin cramps coz ur not in shape yet, just keep on swimmin and try to ignore the cramps and ur gonna b fine. u need to do more than 75 lengths. I'm a VERY experienced swimmer and i can swim 10 times that in 2 hours so try to do bout 100 laps instead of 75.

thank your lucky stars you can put you feet down in the pool otherwise I wouldn't fancy your chances as you are 1/18th of the way there not forgeting the tidal currents in the channel.

go to the gym and work out in there as well as the pool to increase your strength and stamina.

don't forget to lard yourself up before you take on the challenge for real!!!
